Endocrinology.. hmmm what can I say with this simple word but difficult to explain or visualize. HORMONES, this is the first thing that pop into my mind whenever i here this word. According to my research, as i scan through my references, Endocrinology was the study of hormones (That was my first thought =D) an the glands that produce them. Our body has 8 glands that produces a lot of hormones that serves as a messenger to send out messages to other tissues or organs and these are: Pituitary Gland; Hypothalamus; Thymus; Pineal Gland; Thyroid; Adrenal Gland ; Parathyroid ; Pancreas. In addition to that male produces hormes through testes and females produces hormones through her ovariesOVARIES, this is the gland which I’m much familiar of, aside from being a female (which I have it =D) I have this special friend who has a PCOS or stands for polycystic ovary syndrome. This is the condition that is affected of Hormonal Imbalance, due to overproduction of male hormones instead of female hormones which are the Estrogen and Progesterone. Yes, female normally produce male hormones (androgen) but in minimal amount. Here are some of the conditions that could encounter if you’re suffering from Hormonal Imbalance, excessive hair growth, having problem to lose weight because of decrease of insulin (hormone produced by pancreas that is responsible for the change of carbohydrate and fat into energy), acne, ovulation problem and irregular menstrual cycle. Because of experiencing some irregularities in her body she consulted her OB/GYN to stop her anxiety and ask about her condition.
